Greater Metro Youth Athletic Association (GMYAA) was founded in 2023 as a new community-based youth sports organization (as opposed to the traditional school based) in Iredell County. It is the purpose and function of GMYAA is to enrich and balance the athletic and educational experiences of athletes at its member associations, to enhance athletic and academic integrity among its members, to provide leadership and to do this in a spirit of fairness to all.

GMYAA is the governing body for the following sports as offered by its Member Associations: Flag Football, 7-on-7 Football, Tackle Football, and Cheerleading. Participating Member Organizations include: 

• America Renaissance School Athletic Association (ARSYAA)
• Brawley Area Youth Athletic Association (BAYAA)
• Cloverleaf Youth Athletic Association (CYAA)
• Mooresville Youth Athletics (MYA)
• Shepherds Community Athletic Associations (SCAA)
• Troutman Youth Athletic Association (TYAA)
