BAYAA 7-on-7 Football Program

Spring 7v7 Football (11U & 13U):

Our Spring 7v7 Football program is a pass-only, limited-contact, touch football league designed to develop the key “skill positions” on both sides of the ball — Quarterback, Running Back, and Wide Receiver on offense, and Cornerback, Safety, and Linebacker on defense through practice-based development (typically 1–2 practices per week. Many athletes play 7v7 in the offseason to sharpen timing, route concepts, coverage recognition, and overall football IQ — helping them feel more confident and prepared when tackle season arrives.

Games follow a fast-paced 7v7 format (utilizes a QB tee) across our divisions (11U, 13U) and are played locally at Iredell County High Schools against teams within BAYAA and other Iredell County programs part of Iredell County Rec Football (GMYAA).

Game Days & Schedule Format:

  • Spring games use a fast-paced, shorter 21-minute format with multiple games played on gamedays
  • Each team plays approx. 7 total games, scheduled as 2–3 games on gamedays with breaks built in so teams aren’t stacked back-to-back
  • Games are scheduled on alternating weekends (every other weekend) based on the Spring Schedule (March - May)

Gameplay and Key Rules (Quick Overview):

  • 7 defenders vs. 6 offensive players (offense uses a QB tee setup; center moves the tee)
  • Pass-only: no handoffs or designed runs; the QB cannot run past the line of scrimmage
  • No blitzing/rushing the QB (defense can react after the ball is thrown)
  • Possessions start at the 40-yard line with 3 downs to reach the next marker or score
  • Fast pace: 25-second play clock and a 4-second pass clock
  • Touch football (no flags) with limited contact; physical “jamming” contact is only allowed close to the line of scrimmage
  • Mouthguards required; soft-shell helmets and/or guardian loops are highly encouraged, but not required.

Family involvement is encouraged — parents become part of the Brawley Area Athletic family and are welcome to support players at practices, games, or events. Parents and friends can also be helpful as volunteer coaches, officials and timekeepers. Learn more about volunteering here!
